ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consideration and approval of the Interlocal Governmental Agreement in accordance with Chapter 791 of the Texas Government Code. It is by and between the County of Galveston, the City of Texas City, and the City of Galveston. Its purpose is to agree to an equal split of the 2011 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant awarded of $101,450.
The County of Galveston, acting on behalf of itself and the other parties, has under joint application No. 2010-H8587-TX-DJ applied for and agreed to act as fiscal agent for the 2010 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) in the amount of $101,450.; and each of the parties finds that the performance of this Agreement is in their best interest, that the undertaking of this Agreement will benefit the public, and that the equal division of the JAG award fairly compensates each party for the services or functions they are to render; and Galveston County, as fiscal agent, agrees, within 45 days of the date of receipt of the 2010 JAG funds in the amount of $101,450 to forward to the City of Texas City $33,816.00, and to forward to the City of Galveston $33,816.00. The County will retain the balance of the funds.
The funds will be used to assist with purchase of Tactical Equipment and Tactical Patrol Equipment:
Tactical Patrol / Specialized Uniforms
Tactical ‘Duty Rigs’
Duty Weapons, Rifles and Attachments
Tasers / Non – Lethal Weapons
Specialized Tactical – Fire Retardant Clothing / Helmets
