ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Staff is requesting the City Commission to amend the Tax Abatement guidelines.
BACKGROUND
The guidelines state that no tax abatement will be granted to a company relocating from inside Galveston County. There is no limitation on who the City of Texas City can grant a tax abatement to if the findings of the reinvestment zone and application meet all financial requirements. It is requested to drop this stipulation so that we can compete with other entities that would grant a tax abatement to companies located in Galveston County.
