ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consider approval of Resolution No. 07-155 for the purchase and delivery of three (3) Pipehunter Sewer Wash Units on three (3) Ford chassis through the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) cooperative purchasing--sewer units and the Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative--Texas Association of School Boards Cooperative Purchasing--Ford chassis, for Utilities (Utilities Dept).
BACKGROUND
The wastewater collection system is comprised of approximately 225 miles [approximately 1,200,000 linear feet of sewer lines]. The Department's preventive maintenance and inspection program schedules between 20% and 35% of the complete system for cleaning and inspection each year. These sewer wash units will provide the equipment to perform this level of sewer lines cleaning and inspection.

ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED
Alternative equipment to perform this work include large capacity combination (wash and vacuum) units which typically cost $250,000 to $400,000 per unit.
