Need to revise the current Flood Ordinance for clarification and add aditional information.
Amend to read as follows:
PROPOSED CHANGES FOR THE FLOOD HAZARD
REDUCTION PROVISIONS OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
Sec. 58-81. General Standards
Add: 8. All new construction or any substantial improvement located in a non-special flood hazard shall be constructed at 7' mean sea level or 18" above the curb of the street, whichever is greater.
Sec. 58-84. Standards for areas of shallow flooding .
Amend 1) to read:
All new construction and substantial improvements of residential structures shall have the lowest floor, including basement, elevated to 7' mean sea level or 18" above the curb of the street; or above the highest adjacent grade at least as high as the depth number specified in feet on the community=s FIRM (at least 2 feet in depth number is specified) whichever is greater.

BACKGROUND
In reviewing Section 58 of the Code of Ordinances which contains information with regard to Flood Hazard Reduction Provisions, I found there was a need for clarification and additional information was needed; therefore, we are recommending these changes.
