ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)

Approve the Mayor to enter into a contract with The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) Program.

BACKGROUND

Region VIII Education Service Center and The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS) executed a contract to provide cooperative purchasing services to County, City or Government entities.  The purpose of the TIPS Program shall be to obtain substantial savings for participating public schools; colleges and universities; county, city and/or governmental entities through volume purchasing.

Participation by government entities will eliminate formal bidding  and/or quoting for commonly purchased items and services.  TIPS does not charge an annual membership fee. 

ANALYSIS

It is my recommendation to approve a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an interlocal participating agreement with The Interlocal Purchasing System (TIPS).
