ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Approve Res. 08-089, acceping the Loan Star Libraries Grant for $13,713 from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission awarded to City of Texas City Moore Memorial Public Library for FY2008/09
BACKGROUND
The Texas State Library and Archives Commission begain in Fiscal Year 2002 awarding direct aid grants to public libraries in the state. Moore Memorial Public Library has filed a plan of action stating that these funds will be used in FY2008/09 to purchase at least 225 DVDs, 150 audiobooks and 125 large print books for circulation.
ANALYSIS
This grant will supplement and further develop the library's existing DVD, audiobook and Large Print collections, increasing the quality and quantity of materials available for library patrons.
ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED
This grant will help supplement the materials funds provided by county and city sources to enable the library to meet its collection development goals and to provide a needed service to library patrons.
