ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Approval of Resolution No. 21-027 awarding Bid No. 2021-400, to Pfeifer & Sons LTD, the lowest responsible bidder meeting all the requirements of the bid in the amount of $566,150.
BACKGROUND
On August 27, 2020, the TCEDC Board authorized funding for the design and oversight of a Decorative Street Lighting project along 6th street from 9th Avenue to 2nd Avenue to Gandy2 Lighting Design, LLC.
Gandy2 Lighting Design, LLC worked with Staff to develop the bid specifications for the project and the project was advertised for bid on February 11th and on February 18th with the bid opening date of March 16th. A total of two bidders provided submittals for the project.
A. Crescent Electric in the amount of $611,547.
B. Pfeifer & Sons LTD in the amount of $566,150.
On April 13th the TCEDC Board met to discuss the bids and unanimously approved a resolution authorizing funds for the construction of decorative overhead street lighting along 6th Street from 9th Avenue to 2nd Avenue. The project consists of the installation of fluted poles along 6th Street. LED lights will be strung diagonally across the street connecting to each pole. The LED lighting will be programmable through a smart phone or computer and can be programmed to flash or change patterns in a rhythmic pattern.
