ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consideration of the demolition of the building located at 1117, 7th Street N., in Texas City.
BACKGROUND
The building located at 1117, 7th Street N., is dangerous and is in need of demolition. The Legal Department has entered into an Agreed Order with the property owner to demolish the substandard and dangerous building. As a result of the Agreed Order, after demolition, the Corporation will have a lien subordinate only to property taxes on the property for the cost(s) incurred which the Corporation can judicially foreclose upon after 180 days.
The project is in the process of being bid out at this time. Based on the size of the structure, it is anticipated the demolition project will cost approximately $125,000.
