Submitted By:

ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)

Consider approval of a resolution awarding a construction contract to Calco Contracting, Inc. for their total bid amount of $362,294

BACKGROUND

In November 2008, the City entered into agreements with Claunch & Miller and BP Amoco Chemical.  Claunch & Miller was authorized to design a 4-inch force main that would serve an area of BP's facility.  The route of the force main is along FM 519, Loop 197 and along 14th Street to 8th Ave. South.  There the force main connects to an existing City sewer line.

The agreement with BP basically stipulates that BP funds the engineering ($140,000) and construction ($352,500 estimated).  In addition, BP is constructing a private, on-site lift station.

ANALYSIS

On June 18th, ten bids were received for this project (a bid tabulation is attached).  Calco Contracting submitted the lowest bid and Claunch & Miller is recommending award of the project to Calco.
