ACTION REQUEST
The approval of the commission for the grant purchase of 14 ballistic shields.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
A grant has been awarded to The City of Texas City (Police Department) for the purchase of ballistic shields. The total award was $108,000 which the police department would like to use to purchase 14 level III ballistic shields which are equipped with a view port. The total of the purchase would be $112,840 including shipping. These level III ballistic shields are effective against rifle rounds.
RECOMMENDATION
The Chief and command staff recommend approving the ballistic shield purchase.
