ACTION REQUEST
The Police Department requests the approval of the new proposed contract for body worn cameras from Axon.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
The current contract for the police body cameras provided by Axon expires in October 2023. This proposed contract would not take effect until that time but would lock in current prices and put us on the schedule for installation in October of 2023. The contract proposed is five years in length at $166,565.40 per year, this amount is an increase of $70,433.30 from our current yearly rate of $96,132.10. This new contract will include the installation of the newest model of Axon body camera, namely Axon Body 4 along with software including transcription and statistical-related software regarding other deployed Axon equipment. Budgetary changes will be required and were included in the Texas City Police Department 2023-2024 proposed budget booklet.
RECOMMENDATION
The Chief and command staff recommend approving the new contract proposal from Axon.
