ACTION REQUEST
Consider for approval the purchase of One (1) 2000 GPM E-One Typhoon HR100 Aerial Apparatus from Lone Star Emergency Group in the amount of $1,383,651.00 for Fire Station 4. This apparatus is being purchased through the Sourcewell Cooperative Purchasing Program.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
This request is being made now because the estimated delivery time on new order 78’ Aerial Apparatus exceeds 32 months and this 100’ Aerial Apparatus is available for purchase now at less cost (Approximately $46,000.00 savings) and in less time (Approximate 7-month delivery).
This unit was specified and purchased by Lone Star Emergency Group, the E-One dealer, as a demonstration unit two (2) years ago but delays in production extended the build lead time. This Unit is scheduled for build out now and delivery is anticipated in December 2023 or January 2024.
If approved this unit will be assigned to Station 4 and will service District’s 3 & 4 as the primary aerial apparatus responder and secondary responder to District’s 1 & 2.
The purchase price does not include a full complement of required equipment: fire hose, SCBA, air monitors, technical rescue equipment, radio and electronic communication devices, medical diagnostic equipment, and required nozzles and appliances, but this pricing is included in the budget amendment request.
TCFD has the unit specifications, and they are available upon request.
