ACTION REQUEST

Consider approving an updated policy for the use of the study rooms and meeting rooms at Moore Memorial Public Library.

BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)

The current Study Room Policy was written and approved in the Fall of 2019, while the library was closed for renovation and before the rooms were in use. This policy does not differentiate between the two study rooms and the two meeting rooms that were added during the renovation. Over the last two years it has become clear that the two types of rooms are used for very different purposes, and therefore need different guidelines. The proposed policy includes some general information, a section for Study Rooms and a separate section for Meeting Rooms. There is also an application to be completed by any group that wishes to reserve one of the meeting rooms.

The proposed policy and the accompanying application form were unanimously approved by the Board of Library Trustees at their regular meeting on January 8th, 2024.

RECOMMENDATION

I recommend that the proposed Meeting Room and Study Room Policy for Moore Memorial Public Library be approved.
