ACTION REQUEST

Consider approval of a request to amend the fiscal year 2024-2025 budget to accept and appropriate funds from College of the Mainland as part of the Public Private Partnership MOU agreement.

BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)

College of the Mainland is currently undergoing multiple large-scale construction and renovation projects under the voter-approved 2023 Bond program. The COM projects require timely and effective project management in order to meet aggressive deadlines. The City of Texas City will provide a Fire Marshal who will be primarily assigned to COM for the purpose of meeting critical time-saving deadlines for the benefit of the community; and COM understands the added demand on the City’s resources and has agreed to reimburse the City the cost of the salary and benefits for a full-time Fire Marshal for the purpose of ensuring timely inspections and other services traditionally performed by the Fire Marshal for the City.

This Agreement will be for a minimum period of two (2) years commencing on January 23rd, 2025.  COM shall pay the City a maximum amount of One Hundred and Twenty Thousand ($120,000.00) dollars each year the agreement is in effect.  This amount shall be paid in monthly installments invoiced by the City.

RECOMMENDATION

The Finance Department recommends the following Budget amendment to accept and record the College of the Mainland’s monthly deposits.
