Approve and award the Energy Efficient Lighting Upgrade Project for City Hall, Nestler Center, Gym, Criminal Justice Center and Charles T. Doyle Convention Center.  

The project will be completed by X-Tara Light Mfg. Partnership, LTD,. in Houston, for the total project amount of $124,580.00, through the Buy Board Purchasing Cooperative. 

Funds are available through the U.S. Department of Energy Technology Laboratory Recovery Act - Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants - Formula Grants.  The funds are part of the Stimulus Act and require no funding from the city, although the City committed up to $24,000 if the amount exceeds the $191,000.  The energy savings is expected between 40% and 60% on lighting at these sites.  The exact amount will be determined after the lights are installed.

  

The project incorporates the best lighting technology in the country and is designed to provide better light and save the City money.  The project will take about 5 days to install without interrupting any facility activity.  X-Tra Light Manufacturing is a full service company manufacturing and installing lighting.

It is my recommendation to award the Energy Efficient Lighting Upgrade Project to X-tra Light Mfg. Partnership, LTD, for the total contract price of $124,580.00, through the BuyBoard Purchasing Cooperative.
