Consider approving a resolution authorizing the library to purchase books and periodicals via Texas SmartBuy contract with Ingram Library Services and Brodart Co., not to exceed $115,000.

For many years, there have been only three main vendors of books for public libraries in the U.S.; Baker & Taylor, Ingram Library Services, and Brodart Co. For at least the past 10 years, Moore Memorial Public Library has purchased books almost exclusively through a contract with Baker & Taylor. On October 7, 2025, with no prior warning, it was announced that Baker & Taylor was ceasing operations and not accepting any new orders. To safeguard the continuity of future orders, the library director would like to use both Ingram and Brodart as vendors going forward. Both companies have a Texas SmartBuy contract. The funds for these materials are already included in the FY 2026 budget for the library.
