Authorize awarding a bid for the purchase of two (2) sets of Hurst Extrication tools to Municipal Emergency Services, Inc. in the amount of 37,548.00 (See quotes attached)

Standardization for safety reasons and efficient use is essential. Therefore, the Texas City Fire Department uses Hurst Extrication Tools exclusively. The Commissioners Court of Galveston County allocates funds each year to county fire departments for mutual aid ($7,600.00) and grant projects ($30,000.00). Texas City is the recipient of $37,600.00 for 2010 which will cover the cost of this equipment in its entirety.

Purchase allows for the placement of new tools on Engine 16 and Engine 21 which is necessary for extrication and/or other rescue activities. This purchase will place rescue tools on all front line fire apparatus in each District of Texas City and will be available for immediate deployment.
