Consider approval and award Bid # 2101-226 - Asbestos Abatement/Demolition Danforth School.
BACKGROUND
Bay Environmental, Inc. has reviewed asbestos/demolition proposals submitted on May 5, 2010 for the subject project. Seven (7) proposals were submitted with asbestos abatement ranging from a low of $27,300.00 to $142,550.00 and demolition ranging from a low of $53,921.00 to a high of $258,958.00. A bid tabulation is attached for your review.
ANALYSIS
The apparent low bidders were Cherry for the asbestos abatement at $27,300.00 and Grant Mackay for the demolition at $53,921.00 for the demolition.
It is the recommendation of the Purchasing Department based on the proposals submitted, a cost savings of $9,490.00 could be realized by entering into a separate contact for asbestos abatement with Cherry and a separate contract with Grant Mackay for demolition. The total combined cost for these contracts would therefore by $81,221.00.
