Our consultant on Transit Services is requesting that we pass a Resolution that would allow the Galveston County Transit District to pursue Federal and State Transit funding.

The GCTD has been created, in part, to pursue federal and state transit funding representing portions of Galveston County within the Houston Urbanized area but outside of the Houston Metro service area.  The GCTD Board of Directors has indicated its desire that the GCTD, to assist in accomplishing the above, pursue Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grantee status.  The City of Texas City is a member of the GCTD and receives an allotment that it maintains for its own use.  The ability of having the GCTD also indicated as an additional recipient allows it to receive additional funding for the county and surrounding cities and even assist Texas City with better Transit services to areas outside the City.
