Consider and take action on Ordinance 18-16, amending the City's fiscal year 2017-2018 budget to appropriate funds for the repair of gearbox at Rainwater Pump Station A.

During recent routine maintenance of the right angle gear boxes @ Station 'A', Paul House & his crew discovered damaged gears in one gearbox.  It is essential that we get this repaired.  The replacement gear(s) and shaft will have to be custom made.  Obtaining three prices was not easy as this is such custom, labor intensive, exact work but Paul found three shops willing to work with him to provide prices, (which is also not easy to work up since the gears and shafts are inside the gear box so they had to work off of what they could see through the inspection portal and take offs from the limited plans that we have located over the years).  

 

Louisiana Gear Corp provided the lowest price at $51,890.  Hahn & Clay was next low @ $57,895 with Houston Pump & Gear high @ $76,300.
