Consider and take action on Ordinance 18-33, amending the City's fiscal year 2018-2019 budget to appropriate funds for the African American Cultural Park.

I am requesting  a budget amendment for the proposed African American Cultural Park in the amount of $225,000 be placed on Wednesday, December 5^th City Commission agenda for their consideration and approval.

 

The location of the site will be located at the Sanders/Vincent Community Center at the corner of 3^rd Ave North and 4^th Street North. The purpose of the park would be to commemorate the African American history and its impact to the community centered around the former Booker T. Washington school. This would feature historical markers, businesses, churches and interpretive signage, etc.
