ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consider and take action on Resolution No. 20-002, approving Texas City PEG Channel upgrades. (Management Services & I.T. Department)
BACKGROUND
The PEG funds (Public Education Government) are funds derived from the cable franchise fees to purchase capital equipment associated with the PEG channels the City of Texas City operates. Currently, we loan one to the school district and operate two channels to provide public information to our citizens. From time to time we need new capital equipment to update and improve the service. This purchase is for the current equipment upgrade that will allow us to better integrate with the school district, allow for remote control of the stations, and better productions. Robert Turner the City's IT person can explain more fully if necessary. Funds are available for the equipment. Attached is the breakdown of the costs. The items list roughly $95,000 of equipment eligible for PEG funds. There is roughly $11,000 of non-eligible equipment and services that the IT department has separate funds to pay for.
