ACTION REQUEST
Consider and approve amending the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget for the Building Department to enter into a contract to assist with the review of plans and permits for various battery electrical storage systems (BESS) proposed projects. (Finance)
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
A budget amendment to transfer $49,999 to 101203-53680 Professional Fees from 101000-39000 Gen Fund Undesignated Fund Balance. This money will be used for the Building Department for assistance with the review of plans and permit submittals for various battery electrical storage systems (BESS) for which site plans and rezoning requests have been approved by the Planning Board, Zoning Commission, and City Commission. The BESS are highly technical and specialized installations which require special knowledge to review and inspect effectively. Code Concepts Group, LLC is a recognized expert in this field which provides consulting, including BESS plan review and inspection services for municipalities.
