ACTION REQUEST
Consider and approve award of the Commission Community Grant to District 2S4 Lions Charities, sponsored by Mayor Pro-Tem Thelma Bowie, in the amount of $2,500 to assist in providing local students with scholarship opportunities.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
The Texas City Mainland Lions Club's purpose is to empower volunteers to serve their communities, meet humanitarian needs, encourage peace, and promote local understanding.
The Texas City Mainland Lions Club, through its 501(c)(3) charity (District 2S4 Lions Charity Club), requests a $2,500 grant from the Texas City Commissioners Community Grant Fund to assist in providing local students with scholarships from TCISD La Marque High School in Texas City. This opportunity benefits youth by assisting them in attaining the lifelong achievement of a college education.
