ACTION REQUEST

The Parks and Recreation Department respectfully requests the City Commission recognize and honor Desiree Haddock, who is retiring after 25 years of dedicated service as our Youth Art Instructor.

BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)

Desiree has been a cornerstone of our youth arts programming, consistently inspiring creativity and passion in generations of young artists. Each school year, she has led our Youth Art Classes, providing a nurturing and educational environment for students of all ages and skill levels.  

Beyond the classroom, Desiree has played a vital role in many of our community events. Served as a Featured Artist and led the Youth Art Workshop, fostering engagement and artistic expression among children and families.  Under her guidance, many of her students have received awards for their artwork— which reflects her skill as both an educator and mentor. Regular participant and volunteer at major Parks and Recreation events, including the Halloween Festival, Christmas Parade, and Art Walks. Always ready to lend a hand, Desiree brings enthusiasm, warmth, and professionalism to every event she supports.

Desiree is known not only for her artistic talent and teaching ability but also for the joy and positivity she brings to every interaction. Her ever-present smile and willingness to go above and beyond have made her a beloved figure in the department and community.

RECOMMENDATION

It is recommended that the City Commission formally recognize and thank Desiree Haddock for her 25 years of outstanding service and invaluable contributions to our youth, our arts programs, and the community as a whole.  

Fiscal Impact
