ACTION REQUEST
City Commission approval to enter into contract with McDonald Municipal & Industrial for the rehab of the Chlorination Building at the Knox Water Treatment Plant for the amount of $594,069.00. This building houses extremely corrosive and possibly dangerous chemicals that make the City's water safe to drink. This building and its systems have reached their limit of usefulness and necessary repairs and upgrades need to be done to continue providing safe drinking water to the residents of Texas City and assure a safe environment for the employees who work in this building.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
On November 12, 2025, the City of Texas City received four (4) bids for the above referenced project. This project involves the rehabilitation of the City of Texas City Chlorination Building at the Knox WWTP. For Bid Tab (See pg.1 of Exhibit A) McDonald Municipal & Industrial was the apparent low bidder, and they provided a list of qualifications and references for this project. Based on the information provided, McDonald Municipal has completed work of similar nature for various municipalities located throughout the Greater Houston area. McDonald Municipal & Industrial has recently completed Lift Station #30 Improvements Project for the City of Texas City. The work was completed satisfactorily, and City Staff was pleased with the work. For detailed scope of work for this project (See Exhibit A pg. 3)
RECOMMENDATION
It is the recommendation of the Utilities Department that City Commission approves and awards this project to McDonald Municipal & Industrial.
