Staff is recommending that City Commission approve a resolution to suspend the rates requested by Centerpoint Energy for an increase to residential property. See Background and Attachments for more details
BACKGROUND
The City of Texas City belongs to the Gulf Coast Coalition of Cities. The coalition is a group of cities that work together to review utility issues. In this particular case, the issue is the request of Centerpoint Energy to increase their rates. The request would be approximately $6.25 per month per resident. The City of Texas City has roughly 103 utility users in its city limits that is served by Centerpoint instead of TNMP. It is a fairly even split between residential properties and businesses. The area is the north central part of Texas City near SH 146 and Dickinson city limits. Attached are a number of items including a resolution to suspend the rate until it can be further reviewed with the PUC, the docket itself, a memo from staff and a memo from the Legal group (Lloyd Goselink) representing the coalition.
