Approve and award a contract for RFP # 2010-227 Texas City Museum Renovations.

Bid packets were mailed/picked up by area vendors on June 30, 2010.  A bid tabulation and letter of recommendation are attached for your review.

Proposals were due Wednesday, July 7, 2010. 

The low Proposal bid including Alternate #1 for the Children's Activity Room of $1,014,852.00 was received from F.W. Walton, Inc., in Texas City.  The Proposals were evaluated by a Committee consisting of Joseph Hoover AIA and City Personnel using a point evaluation system outlined in the Proposal.  Therefore, it is the recommendation of said Committee to award the contract for construction of the Museum Renovations Project to F.W. Walton, Inc., for the total sum of $1,014,852.00 and that the Mayor is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of the City Commission.  I further recommend that the Mayor be authorized to approve any change orders, not to exceed 25% of the total contract amount without bringing the matter before the City Commission.
