ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Approve the acceptance of the Loan Star Libraries Grant for $14,410 from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, awared to the City of Texas City Moore Memorial Public Library for FY 2011.
BACKGROUND
In Fiscal Year 2002 the Texas State Library and Archives Commission began awarding direct aid grants to public libraries in the state. Moore Memorial has filed a plan of action stating that these funds will be used in FY 2011 to purchase at least 300 DVDs and 200 audio books.
ANALYSIS
This will supplement and further develop the library's existing DVD and audio books collections, increasing the quality and quantity of materials for library patrons.
ALTERNATIVES CONSIDERED
This grant will help supplement the materials funding from county and city sources to enable the library to meet its collection development goals and provide a needed service for our patrons.
