ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)

Approve and award Bid # 2011-237 Pump Station "A" Roof Project.  Funds are available in the Rainwater Pump Station Expenditures-Supplemental Requests Detail Capital Outlay Account.

BACKGROUND

Bid packets were mailed to area vendors on February 21, 2011.  A letter of recommendation and bid tabulation are attached for your review.

Bids opened Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.

ANALYSIS

The low responsible bid meeting all specifications was received from F.W. Walton, Inc., in Houston, for the total bid amount of $109,277.00.

F.W. Walton is a responsible firm that are capable of performing the specif iced work in a satisfactory manner.

It is my recommendation and the recommendation of the Project Administrator to award the Pump Station "A" Roof Project to F.W. Walton, Inc., for the total bid amount of $109,277.00 and that the Mayor is authorized to execute a contract on behalf of the City Commission.  I further recommend that the Mayor be authorized to approve change orders, not to exceed 25% of the total contract price without taking the matter before the Commission.
