ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consider approval of a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to execute an Architectural Services Agreement with M2L Associates for the FM 1764 Landscaping and Lighting Project.
BACKGROUND
The City has a master plan for landscaping improvements along FM 1764. The most recent project of this master plan was at the longhorn statues completed in September 2009. The City funded the entire project at the longhorns with some assistance from the BP Volunteers.
The City applied to TxDOT for a Transportation Enhancement Project. Under this program, TxDOT provides 80% of the construction funding and the City provides 20% of the construction funding and the architectural design services. The project we applied for is landscaping on FM 1764 at the Century Blvd. overpass and landscaping and lighting improvements in the raised medians between 21st Street and 14th Street.
Our application to TxDOT has been accepted. TxDOT will provide a maximum of $650,929 toward construction and the City is required to provide a minimum of $162,732 toward construction. In addition, the City is responsible for the Architectural Design Services.
Staff has negotiated a proposal with M2L Associates (same firm that designed the improvements at the longhorns)with a total fee of $87,260.
