ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)

Award a bid for water and sewer facilities to serve the Del Papa Building Site on Century Blvd. to the lowest responsible bidder, and authorize the Chairman or President to execute a construction contract with lowest responsible bidder.

BACKGROUND

TCEDC has agreed to extend water and sewer lines to the Del Papa Building Site.  To fulfill that requirement, TCEDC hired the firm HDR/Claunch & Miller to prepare the engineering plans and specifications. 

The project plans are complete and City staff has provided approval.  Bids for the project were publicly advertised and a bid opening occurred on July 28th.  The lowest responsible bidder is METRO CITY CONSTRUCTION with a project bid amount of $1,106,617 (see attached letter of recommendation and bid tabulation).

City staff and HDR's Project Manager recommend awarding this project to METRO CITY CONSTRUCTION.

The City and HDR staff had presented a budget of $950,000.00 for the construction aspects of both water and sewer extensions including the south extension from Monticello. Next year's budget will reflect the full amount.
