ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Amend Personnel Ordinance, Section 90, Division 2, Fire Department (90-151. Classes of Positions) in accordance with the requirements of Local Government Code, Chapter 143, Civil Service, renumbering authorized positions within the department following the merger of the Emergency Medical Services Department with the Fire Department.
Increase Captains from 11 to 12
Increase Engineers from 16 to 19
Increase Fire Fighters from 33 to 45
Increase Total Number of Classified Employees from 60 to 76

BACKGROUND
Merge EMS Department into the fire department.
ANALYSIS
The merger of the EMS Department into the Fire Department will increase overall staffing, decrease employee costs, and enhance overall service delivery and quality of patient care in a pre-hospital environment.
