ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consider approving a resolution to amend Resolution No. 12-09 for demolation of buildings on or near 6th Street North.
BACKGROUND
On March 08, 2012, the Texas City Economic Development Corporation approved a resolution authorizing up to $125,000 for the demolition of 622 6th Street North. While staff has been working with the owner of 6th Street North to demolish the building in exchange for the property, the City has been successful in working to have two other properties prepared for demolition as well as the drive-thru and teller booth behind the old Texas City National Bank. (The Lawyer's Title Building.)
As you can see from the bid tabulation, the amount exceeds the $125,000. It is estimated that the old bank drive-thru and tellers booth would not be more than an additional $20,000 including Asbestos report. Staff would recommend approval of $162,369 for all three buildings and the portion of the old bank building
