ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Authorization for the Mayor to execute an agreement for professional services with Axon Enterprise, Inc. to provide fleet digital media recorder services to the Fire Department.
BACKGROUND
Fleet digital media recorder services encompasses camera hardware, data management, secure storage, live video streaming and technical support. Video recording enhances vehicle operational safety, report documentation, assists in training, and improves accountability and transparency. It also provides an excellent record of an event and is an important defense tool that can help avoid protracted and costly litigation.
ANALYSIS
Emergency Apparatus responding to emergency incidents and non-emergency instances will be equipped with video/audio recording equipment to enhance the department’s transparency, assist in quality assessment and improvement, emergency response evaluation and post incident critique/training to improve crew and citizen safety.
This agreement is for a five (5) year period beginning November 2021
