Consider approval of a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an Interlocal Agreement For The Annual Demolition of Residential Structures with the City of Baytown.  

This interlocal  agreement sets the cost for demolition at $1.79 per sq ft.  Staff currently estimates the total cost of demolition considering the number of structures, size of structure and past trends in cost for past demolition.  Bid packets are then mailed out to interested contractors who request them.  In analyzing the past demoltion contract awared to the lowest most responsive bidder it appears that the cost per sq. ft. was $2.75.  

The benefits of entering into this agreement are (1) demolition cost will be pre-determined; (2) a savings of $0.96 per sq. ft; (3) a reduction in cost of approximately 65% per sq. ft. and, demolition of one (1)  or two (2)  dangerous or sub-standard structures will be removed quicker if not required to ensure twenty (20) to twenty (25) structures for a bid packet.  And finally, there will be a substantial cost savings of postage by not having to mail out 12-15 bid packets when an average of  6 contractors respond.
