ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Consider approval of Resolution No. 2023-04, authorizing funding for the 2023 Blaze & BBQ Bash.
BACKGROUND
In an effort to rekindle the Texas City Music Festival (Formerly known as the Charles Brown Music Festival) for 2024, the existing Texas City Fire-Fighter Games will be supplemented this year (September 8 and 9 of 2023) with a live music feature that will host local and regional artists. This year's event will be called Blaze & BBQ Bash. A Barbeque Cookoff, Cornhole Tournament, the Fire-Fighter Games and live music will round out the event. The total additional funding required for the event will be $25,000. Sponsors and vendor registration will be sought to help offset the costs of the program.
The funding for the project will come from the Fund Balance from the T.C. Foundation which is estimated to be $727,789 at the end of this year.
