ACTION REQUEST
Consider for approval the purchase of One (1) Hydraulic Powered Rescue Tool System from Municipal Emergency Services (MES) through Houston Galveston Area Council (HGAC) contract, for a total price of $51,311.02.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
This request is to purchase hydraulic powered rescue tools to be placed on the recently approved aerial apparatus. Known as the “Jaws of Life”, these hydraulic powered rescue tools may be used in numerous instances to gain access to and assist personnel in the extrication of victims involved in vehicle accidents, as well as other rescues for example small spaces or structural collapse. These tools include a cutter, a spreader, a ram and airbag stabilization system.
The proposed equipment is currently in the FY 22/23 budget by amendment. Additionally, all contracts available to members of the HGAC Program have been awarded by virtue of a public competitive procurement process compliant with state statute(s).

RECOMMENDATION
The Fire Chief recommends approval of this request.
