BACKGROUND

On January 24th, 2009, the City introduced "The Good Neighbor Program" designed to expand a sense of pride in each neighbor and throughout the neighborhoods; created to help protect the property value of homes in our community; to promote a clean, safe and healthy living environment; to increase volunteerism; and finally, to promulgate the continuance of the City's vision which affirms that Texas City is a great place to live, work, play and invest.
The first group of Good Neighbor Volunteers responded and completed the programs training coarse on Wednesday August 12, 2009. The course was a two-day training including legal counsel presentation, staff procedures and volunteer process.  Training stresses no contact with public and all material and interaction of volunteers is only positive.  A driving instruction will occur after oath is completed.  Staff is requesting that the Mayor swear in the eight (8) volunteers under the City of Texas City "Good Neighbor" Volunteer Oath.
