ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)
Request aprpoval of a Resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into a five-month agreement with the Dickinson Independent School District for the use of the Natatorium for DISD's swim team.
BACKGROUND
DISD and the City of Texas City have arranged for a short-term lease to allow DISD to use the Natatorium for five-months during swim season for their swim team practices and competition. TCISD's Superintendent has been involved in early discussions and has worked with DISD to perform a pilot co-sharing of the Natatorium for practices for the past two weeks.
The five-month agreement is for $8,500 with a multi-year agreement being negotiated. The amount is intended to cover a portion of the major overhead and maintenance costs. This first year was to assist DISD and to generate interest in the use of the Natatorium on a more permanent basis by DISD and others.
