ACTION REQUEST
Consideration and approval of Commissioner At-Large/Mayor Pro-Tem Bowie's award of $2,500 to local nonprofit, Every Ribbon Tells A Story, under the Texas City Commissioners Community Grant Fund Application.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
The Commissioner Community Grants were established in 2022 by Mayor Johnson. Each member of the Commission can sponsor up to $5,000 (MAXIMUM) in Commissioner's Community Grant funds in a fiscal year, provided the budget is approved with those funds available.
Commissioner At-Large/Mayor Pro-Tem Bowie has requested that $2,500 of her FY '25 grant funds be awarded to local nonprofit, Every Ribbon Tells A Story. The organization is committed to providing programs and transportation services to meet the needs of local residents, with 90% of their services going to Texas City residents. The Orginazation started with the vision of giving cancer survivors a platform to share their stories and inspire others. Over the years, this vision has grown into a reality that extends beyond cancer diagnosis and treatment, helping individuals and families each year, regardless of diagnosis. Their greatest desire is for individuals to fall in love with taking care of themselves physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, leading to a greater awareness in their journey toward wellness and well-being.
They believe that healthy individuals create healthy communities, and, in turn, healthier communities are stronger communities.
