ACTION REQUEST
Consider and take action re Resolution 2025 - XX to establish a Fee Schedule and update the Application Fees for various Planning and Development-related applications and reviews.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
The City Commission has adopted the Texas City Code of Ordinances Chapter 159 Subdivisions and Chapter 160 Zoning which chapters provide for efficient, consistent, fair and effective development review services for the administration of land use regulations to facilitate economic growth and enhance quality of life for the residents and citizens of Texas City. Various provisions throughout these chapters require the submission of applications and plans, the review of such applications and plans, and various processing and approvals in accordance with applicable regulations, codes, ordinances and laws. The City of Texas City, Texas Engineering & Planning Department incurs administrative costs and expenses, including personnel costs, vehicle and equipment costs, training and licensing expenses, to provide qualified personnel to administer and provide the services necessary to effectively administer these processes. The fees have not been updated in more than 5 years and a fee study comparison to nearby cities shows the current fees are much lower than others in the region. Therefore, the fees should be increased to better offset the costs of providing the important services.
