ACTION REQUEST
Consider and take action to approve the award of a $2,500 Commissioners’ Community Grant to Memorial Lutheran and First Presbyterian Churches, on behalf of Commissioner Chris Sharp.
BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)
Memorial Lutheran and First Presbyterian Churches is a faith-based organization operating under the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit religious organization. The grant request of $2,500 would assist in two church outreach initiatives serving residents in Texas City. The first initiative aims to sustain the Community Food Pantry to purchase shelf-stable food, fresh produce, and hygiene items. The second initiative would provide scholarships to cover full or partial fees for local youth to attend a camp for faith, leadership, and outdoor activities.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of a grant award in the amount of $2,500 to Memorial Lutheran and First Presbyterian Churches, on behalf of Commissioner Chris Sharp.
