ACTION REQUEST

Consider and take action on a request to purchase a new Medic Unit for Fire Station 5.  

BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)

As part of the preparation for opening and operating Fire Station 5, the Department must purchase a new, fully equipped medic unit. This acquisition was planned and funded through the approved FY 2026 Certificate of Obligation. The purchase includes both the chassis and the ambulance patient compartment, which together constitute a complete “Medic Unit.”
  • Currently, the lead time for a medic unit is approximately 12 to 18 months.

RECOMMENDATION

The Fire Chief recommends approval of the purchase of a new medic unit through the HGAC Buy program from the vendor Sterling McCall Ford, in an amount not to exceed $305,000.
