REGULAR CALLED CITY COMMISSION MEETING

M I N U T E S 

WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4, 2017 – 5:00 P.M.
KENNETH T. NUNN COUNCIL ROOM – CITY HALL

 
A Regular Called Meeting of the City Commission was held on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at 5:00 P.M. in the Kenneth T. Nunn Council Room in City Hall, Texas City, Texas. A quorum having been met, the meeting was called to order at 5:18 p.m. by Mayor Matthew T. Doyle.

ROLL CALL
Present:
  • Matthew T. Doyle, Mayor
  • Phil Roberts, Mayor Pro Tem
  • Bruce Clawson, Commissioner At Large
  • Dee Ann Haney, Commissioner At Large
  • Thelma Bowie, Commissioner District 1
  • Dorthea Jones, Commissioner District 3
  • Jami Clark, Commissioner District 4

INVOCATION was lead by Walter Abernathy with the Cathedral of Faith Church.

PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was lead by Mayor Dolye.
 
4.
CONSENT AGENDA

Mayor Doyle pulled item 4a for a vote.

Approve City Commission Minutes for December 21, 2016,meeting. (City Secretary)
 

Motion by Commissioner At Large Dee Ann Haney, Seconded by Commissioner At Large Bruce Clawson to approve item 4a.

Vote: 7 - 0 CARRIED

PUBLIC COMMENTS

Peggy Halstead, Citizen, told the Commission that she wanted speed bumps installed on Magnolia Avenue to slow down speeding cars. Mayor Doyle referred her to the Police Chief.

STAFF COMMENTS

Mike Stump, Waste Manager, stated that there is a lot of Christmas tree mulch available for free to the public.

James Hartshorn, Administrative Coordinator, stated that the HEB Community Challenge will kick off January 9th, 2017. This is a community challenge held state wide to get people healthy and active.

COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS

Commissioner Bowie was very pleased about the newspaper coverage about the 1867 Settlement.

Commissioner Roberts stated that Youth In Government was a great event and commended all those who participated in it. He also wished everyone a Happy New Year.

Commissioner Clawson also was very impressed with Youth In Government.

Commissioner Clark also stated that Youth In Government was great.
 
ADJOURNMENT
Having no further business, Commissioner Haney made a MOTION to ADJOURN at 5:35 p.m.; the motion was SECONDED by Commissioner Clawson . All present voted AYE. MOTION CARRIED.
