A Regular Called Meeting of the City Commission was held on Wednesday, JUNE 20, 2018, at 5:00 P.M. in the Kenneth T. Nunn Council Room in City Hall, Texas City, Texas. A quorum having been met, the meeting was called to order at 5:00 p.m. by Mayor Matthew T. Doyle.

Artemio Aguilera thanked the City Commissioners and introduced his family members that were in attendance.

REPORTS
 
a.
Collections (Municipal Court)

Tammy Odom, Municipal Court Supervisor, gave a PowerPoint presentation outlining the milestones the Municipal Court has achieved since 2017.
 
b.
Senior Citizens Program (Recreation and Tourism)

Lenora Mendez, Senior Program Coordinator, gave a PowerPoint presentation on how the Nessler Senior Program is enriching the lives of Texas City's senior citizens. The program offers a variety of classes, transportation services and meals.

NOTICES
 
a.
Canceling of the July 4, 2018 Commission Meeting due to Independence Day Holiday.

Mayor Doyle stated that the next City Commission Meeting will be held on July 18, 2018.
 
8.
PUBLIC COMMENTS

Richard Capestani, resident, requested that the City Commission consider taking his three suggestions into effect. First, Mr. Capestani requested that more trees be planted in all City parks, then he requested that the City add solar panels to the roofs of all City buildings. Lastly, Mr. Capestani requested that the City Commission consider adopting an ordinance to require new residential and commercial buildings to have a rain water harvesting system.

David Zacherl, Fire Chief, wished everyone a Happy Fourth of July.

Dennis Harris, Director of Recreation and Tourism, stated that the Kid Fish Event will take place on June 23rd at Carver Park. Mr. Harris also stated that the Fourth of July Parade will start on 4th Avenue and head down 6th Street to the Texas City Museum.

MAYOR'S COMMENTS

Mayor Doyle stated that Police Chief Robert Burby will be retiring at the end of the month and Assistant Police Chief Joe Stanton will serve as interim until he is voted in by the City Commission.
 
10.
COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS

Commissioner At-Large Phil Roberts wished everyone a Happy Fourth of July.
 
11.
ADJOURNMENT
Having no further business, Commissioner At-Large Bruce Clawson made a MOTION to ADJOURN at 5:30 p.m.; the motion was SECONDED by Commissioner District 4 Jami Clark. All present voted AYE. MOTION CARRIED.
