BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING

MINUTES

JANUARY 22, 2019 - 4:00 P.M.

CITY HALL CONFERENCE ROOM
 

The Texas City Historical Preservation Corporation Board of Directors met Tuesday, January 22, 2019, at 4:00 p.m., in the City Hall Conference Room, 1801 9th Avenue North, in Texas City, Texas. A quorum having been met, the meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Margaret Tuma with the following in attendance:

NEW BUSINESS
 
(a)
Consider and take action on the election of Officers and Oath of Officers.

There was discussion to keep the elected officers the same as the previous year. 

James Hartshorn, Management Services,  administered the Oath of Officers.
 

Motion by Director Lacey Fleshman, Seconded by Director JoAnn Hackbarth

Vote: 5 - 0 CARRIED

 
(b)
Consider and take action on minutes from April 23, 2018, Texas City Historical Preservation Corporation meeting.

Several corrections stated.
 

Motion by Director JoAnn Hackbarth, Seconded by Director Irma Moreno to approve with corrections.

Vote: 5 - 0 CARRIED

 
(c)
Consider and take action on Resolution No. 19-01, approving the actions of the Officers of the Board of the Texas City Historical Preservation Corporation for the previous fiscal year 2017-2018.

Nicholas Finan, Management Services, stated that this action is standard and will approve actions that were taken on the board's behalf.

Dennis J. Harris, Director of Recreation and Tourism, stated that land and building improvements that were started in the 2017-2018 fiscal year will be completed in 2019.
 

Motion by Director Lacey Fleshman, Seconded by Director JoAnn Hackbarth

Vote: 5 - 0 CARRIED

 
(d)
Consider and take action on Resolution No. 19-02, adopting the 2018-2019 fiscal year budget of the Texas City Historical Preservation Corporation.

Ryan McClellen, Fiance Department, stated that in the budget there is a carryover from Heritage Square Funds.
 

Motion by Director JoAnn Hackbarth, Seconded by Director Irma Moreno

Vote: 5 - 0 CARRIED

UPDATES
 
(a)
Updates on Texas City Museum.

Amanda Vance, Museum Curator,  stated that the price increases were implemented seamlessly and attendance to the Museum is up from previous years. Ms. Vance also stated that on March 30, 2019, there will be a Maritime Showcase.

Dennis J. Harris, Director of Recreation and Tourism, stated that the Texas City Steers are being relocated due to the I-45 expansion. Mr. Harris also stated that the City purchased land by the Bell House and it will be utilized for events.

BOARD COMMENTS

JoAnn Hackbarth asked how patrons find out about the Museum Memberships. Amanda Vance, Museum Curator, answered that the membership is advertised at the Museum and on Facebook.

ADJOURNMENT
Having no further business, JoAnn Hackbarth made a MOTION to ADJOURN at 4:22 p.m.; the motion was SECONDED by Lacey Fleshman. The meeting was adjourned.
