A Regular Called Meeting of the City Commission was held on Wednesday, JANUARY 20, 2021, at 5:00 P.M. in the Charles T. Doyle Convention Center, Texas City, Texas. A quorum having been met, the meeting was called to order at 5:01 p.m. by Dedrick D. Johnson, Sr.

Joseph Stanton, Chief of Police, gave two PowerPoint presentations detailing racial profiling statistics and crime statistics for the City in 2020.

Motioned by Commissioner District 4 Jami Clark, seconded by Commissioner District 2 Felix Herrera to approve Consent Agenda items a, b, c, and d.

b.
Consider and take action on Resolution No. 21-004, extending the Mayor's Declaration of Disaster. (Emergency Management)
 

Vote: 7 - 0 CARRIED

 
c.
Consider and take action on Resolution No. 20-005, approving a contract for Bid No. 2021-091 Recycled Crushed Concrete Annual Contract. (Public Works)
 

Vote: 7 - 0 CARRIED

 
d.
Consider and take action on Resolution No. 21-006, approving the purchase of Lift Station 23 pumps. (Public Works)
 

Vote: 7 - 0 CARRIED

REGULAR ITEMS
 
a.
Consider and take action on Ordinance No. 21-01, amending the fiscal year 2020/2021 budget by changing the part-time Deputy City Marshal position to full-time and provide funding for the related salary and benefits. (Finance)

Laura Boyd, Finance Director, explained that a budget amendment was needed to provide funding as the part-time Deputy City Marshal became full-time.
 

Motion by Commissioner At-Large, Mayor Pro Tem Thelma Bowie, Seconded by Commissioner District 2 Felix Herrera

Vote: 7 - 0 CARRIED

MAYOR'S COMMENTS

Mayor Johnson thanked TCISD and Rotary Club for the Youth in Government program.

COMMISSIONERS' COMMENTS

Every Commissioner commented on the success of Youth In Government.
 
11.
ADJOURNMENT
Having no further business, Commissioner District 3 Dorthea Jones Pointer made a MOTION to ADJOURN at 5:54 p.m.; the motion was SECONDED by Commissioner District 2 Felix Herrera. All present voted AYE. MOTION CARRIED.
