Consider and take action on Resolution No. 2024-1XX, confirming Mayor Johnson's appointment of Nicole Miller as the Director of Recreation and Tourism.

BACKGROUND (Brief Summary)

Nicole Miller has worked for the City of Texas City for 17 years and is an experienced Recreation and Tourism professional with over 15 years' experience managing recreational services and facilities, event planning, budget administration, and staff leadership. Mrs. Miller graduated with her Bachelors of Science Degree in Recreation, Park, and Tourism Science from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. After graduating, she spent some time as a Recreation Management Intern for the City of Missouri City before joining the City of Texas City as the Reservations Coordinator in the Recreation and Tourism Department in 2007. In October 2017, Nicole was promoted to Recreation Superintendent which was a newly created position she excelled at. In that role, she worked closely with, and was mentored by previous Director Dennis J. Harris.

In September 2024, applications for the Director of Recreation and Tourism were reviewed and a panel of Staff and Directors interviewed the top five candidates. Nicole had an excellent interview and became a finalist to interview with the Mayor.
