ACTION REQUEST (Brief Summary)

Approve Business Improvement Grant (BIG Grant) in an amount not to exceed $15,000.

BACKGROUND

In October 2023, the Texas City Economic Development Corporation established the Business Improvement Grant (BIG Grant) to assist local businesses with a range of improvements.
Staff has received a completed application for the BIG Grant from Anthony Michail, owner of Brushmore Family & Cosmetic Dentistry, which is located at 1501 N Amburn Road, Suite 5. The applicant is requesting assistance with tree removal, installation of a concrete walkway, fence repairs, fire suppression and tools, and HVAC work.

Total costs paired with sufficient documentation include:

Breeze – Air Duct Cleaning - $6,000 (interior/exterior)
Tree Cutting - $450
Fence materials - $33.70
Door repair - $150
Roof repair labor - $150
Exterior concrete - $4,500
Tree cutting - $450
Electrical parts – Fire suppression - $974 (interior/exterior)
Construction waste removal - $300

GRAND TOTAL: $13,007.70

Funds are available in the City of Texas City’s FY2024-25 annual budget from the Texas City Economic Development Corporation, Fund 801.
